Dr Julia Ejiogu is a Consultant Family Physician. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is registered by the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council. A physician with global experience in the field of medicine. She graduated from Jos University Teaching hospital, Jos Nigeria.Worked as a Youth Corps doctor in Gusau, Zamfara state Nigeria, worked with medical students as a clinical tutor in the Clinical skills and Anatomy Departments of Saint George's school of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies.Dr Ejiogu then completed her residency in Family Medicine at Hoboken University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey USA where she recieved extensive training in the entire spectrum of family medicine. In 2012 she relocated to Nigeria in West Africa and discovered inadequate services for children on the Autism spectrum as well as other special needs and decided to do something about it.
She participated in Autism awareness campaigns as well as national television appearances to discuss problems associated with child development. Julia then founded the Autism Care and Support Initiative Abuja, Nigeria with a mission to "enable every child with Autism and other special needs in Africa the very best chance at success by providing access to local and global opportunities for early, intensive, inclusive education and intervention". She has since recieved intense training in ABA therapy (Applied Behaviour Analysis) by CSAAC - Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children, a non-profit organisation set up to provide direct services to children and adults with Autism across their lifespan. Collaboration with this organization has led to one of the initial projects of the International Autism Initiative which is CSAAC's global work in the field of Autism.
Dr Julia speaks two local languages and when not advocating for issues concerning children with special needs, enjoys spending time with her family.
